I broke my phone a couple of weeks ago. It wasn’t the best phone in the world (some weird Nokia thing that I never really bothered to find out what model it was), but since I got my iPod Touch, I didn’t care. I could phone and text people on it, and occasionally go on the internet. That was good enough for me.
I managed to break the screen’s workings internally, of all the things to break… I can still use it, save for the fact that I can’t read texts, don’t know who is calling, and have to guess who I’m dialling. This has led to some very embarrassing conversations with people I didn’t even know were in my contact list.
Funnily enough, an announcement came on the exact day that I broke my phone about the iPhone about to be released on Pay As You Go. Instead of getting my current phone fixed like a sane person, my immediate thoughts were, “ZOMG, I need an iPhone!” As some people I know would say, ‘consumer whore’.
Seeing as my current contract doesn’t end until January/February, I guess I’ll be using another number for a few months. I hate changing numbers. Oh, and the fact that the Pay As You Go iPhone hasn’t been released yet, and won’t be until the 16th of September, means that I’ve been unreachable by phone/text for almost a month now.
Strangely, I haven’t missed it at all. It’s been quite nice, actually, not being able to be contacted (although I know it infuriates some people, haha). Besides, the people I really want to talk to seem to be replacing texts with tweets. Yay for free communication!
However, by the time the 16th rolls around, I will be slowly selling my soul to Apple…
