The Regent Street Festival

I went to the Regent Street Festival today. Living in London, I tend to spend a lot of time in the central area, and so events like this are the norm for me. This year, I thought it was crap. The weather was… meh, and every activity seemed to be centred around toddlers. Great if you’re 5 and under, but I passed that stage ages ago. If you were too old to appreciate the mini golf courses, then you either had the choice of listening to music, or eating.

I chose the former (because the food was too overpriced) and immediately regretted it. Things are really going downhill for the UK when the headliners are a bunch of X Factor rejects. This isn’t the first time some big event has involved the X Factor, either. Remember Leona Lewis at the Olympics closing ceremony a few weeks ago? Is this really the best way they could have represented the UK?

Is the X Factor really the best that the UK can offer in talent? Don’t get me wrong, I like watching the show as much as everyone else, but I honestly don’t believe that big events like these should have these so-called popstars as headliners, when much, much better artists out there are struggling to earn a living. Avenue and Leona Lewis may be good singers, but if it wasn’t for the X Factor, would anyone even know who they were?

I stayed for one song during Avenue‘s set. They seem to be just like every other boyband out there. I hope the Regent Street Festival is better next year, with better music and food, etc. The UK’s just becoming known for reality TV, and that isn’t a good thing.

Lord, you are just as bad as the rest of them.

Thank god she is in the US where people actually seem to appreciate her.

Did you see the video of her on Fashion Rocks doing the “Just Stand Up” performance with all the American Divas. She manages to outshine the lot of them and thats why she is in demand all around the world.

Why do the British always have to put down their best assets and praise the mediocre nastiness like Amy Winehouse.

Where did Amy Winehouse come into all this? No one’s promoting her the way she is at the moment. Anyway, if Leona Lewis really is ‘our best asset’, then we don’t have much to hope for, do we?
Btw, when you begin a sentence with ‘why’, it is assumed that you will put a question mark after it, as opposed to a full stop.
