I can never seem to annotate things neatly. Instead of actually helping me remember, I spend more time looking through my notes, trying to work out if that was meant to be a ‘d’ or a ‘cl’. I used to have nice, clear (albeit boring ) handwriting, until one boring summer’s day, I attempted to change it. Now it’s all loopy and scrawly, and on a bad day, I can’t even read my own handwriting. Oops.
I am currently on an ‘advanced’ English Lit. course (for you Brits, I’m meant to be doing GCSE English Lit. now, but I got put in the group that was doing AS instead). I honestly don’t know why, as my essays tend to be rather sarcastic and disjointed. However, all of this requires a LOT of annotation.
Long story short, I can no longer read my copy of the Great Gatsby properly. It’s covered in notes that I need to decipher slowly, page by page, and I’m already disorganised enough as it is. I may also be taking my final exam in January, too (writing long essays on ‘aspects of narrative’). AARGH!
